Twitter

As you can see from my RSS feed, ------------------>>>>---->>>---->
I am already a member of Twitter and I Tweet quite regularly.

A lot of people have responded negatively when I mention Twitter. I try to explain that it's a micro-bloggings website where you can update people in between blog entries. They still don't get it. Then, I try to explain that it's not like Facebook or MySpace where you are 'Friends' with people. On Twitter, you 'follow' people and only people who 'follow' you will see your tweets.

[Tumble weed]

Celebrities use Twitter to update their 'followers' on the most mumdane aspects of their lives. They feel that Twitter keeps them in contact with the "real world" and shows that they are "one of the people". Of course there a lot of celebrity fakers on Twitter, as with any other social networking website. Each "celebrity" profile needs to be subjectivly analysed before requesting to 'follow' them. However, if you don't mind if the celebrity you are following is the real deal or not, they can post some quite funny Tweets.

Companies use Twitter to update on their websites, events, competitions and new information. Twitter is also modified to be accessed and updated from your mobile phone. This means instant updates from the people you 'follow' without waiting on a direct mail or checking their website constantly.

The only way to understand a new form of technology is to actually experience. Only then, can you fully grasp the concept and decide whether it would be beneficial to you or not.

For those who already have a Twitter account, you will understand and love this video:
