How to survive a sale!

Ok, the summer is coming to a close and you want some new threads in the sale. There are a few things you need to know before you dive into the deep end.
These are my tips for surviving a sale:

1.) Before you step inside the doors...
Unless you are a professional sale shopper, never tackle an early morning sale, you will not be prepared for the sight. Grown women clawing at clothes, dropping them when it's not their size and shoving people out of the way because it's the one rail they haven't torn apart. If you are a very popular size, then there is little hope in finding something in the sale. They normally only have sales on items that couldn't sell or only sold out in the popular sizes.

2.) Know what you want
There's no point in going into a shop if you don't know what you're looking for. If you go in with a "I'll know it when I see it!" attitude, you won't get anywhere. Have a mental list, to save time and effort. Unless you go in at the beginning of the sale, the clothes will be moved around. Know your targets. Focus on colour and styles. If you find something that you're not sure about, carrying it around with you for a while, you can always put it back. Never put it down if you're not sure, the last thing you want is someone holding "your" top.

3.) Tactics
Ok, here's where it gets tricky. Every girl knows the unspoken rules of shopping etiquette. But during a sale, these rules go out the window. Personal space does not exist, compassion for sales assistants is gone, clothes are dumped on top of the rails, or "accidentally" dropped and you ARE the most important person in the shop. These are my tips if you don't mind being sneaky. If you want to look at an area where someone else is already looking, move so close to them that it's uncomfortable, eventually they'll move. Everyone knows that whatever they have will be out on the rails but still, ask assistants if they have your size out back, no harm in asking.

4.) It's time to pay
Once you have everything, it's time to pay for what you have. The last thing you need is to stand in a long que for ages. If the line never looks like getting shorter, then you have no choice. But always try to wait until it's shorter. Take another look around, maybe at stuff you didn't think of before. And have your money ready, you won't get flustered rummaging through your bag and you can get out quicker.

Happy shopping!

Cool, you did the sales post.

These rules probably also apply to a shop like T.K. Maxx at any time.
