Last weekend, myself and Becki went to Oxford for a shopping trip. The city was black with people and it was impossible to cope with the heat, walking in and out of packed shops. Everyone seems to leave their shopping until Saturday. The only other time I've seen queues that bad was at Christmas. Becki found her dream boots and I researched some info about the iPhone 4, as well as picking up some essentials for the house. The bus trip home was the longest journey ever: me and Becki had a drug addict leech onto us for the entire time.
Last Tuesday, our room-mate Rick made dinner for us 3 ladies in the house. This was a deal that we all made on our 'room-mate bonding' dinner a few weeks ago, everyone takes a night to cook dinner and choose a DVD to watch. Rick decided on curry and 'Withnail and I'. After 2 and a half hours of cooking, dinner was ready to be served. Rick pulled out the dining table, decorated it with candles and flowers and served up his curry with a special wine. We were all very impressed. He even bought desserts from Maison Blanc all the way from Burford. He really set the bar and as it is my turn next, I will have to think of a good Irish recipe to please the hungry masses.
Near the end of the week, I started packing for my trip home. If I'm really honest, my packing began 3 weeks ago (but that's for those who don't know me really well). I decided to bring home some summer clothes and other stuff that I didn't need anymore.
Saturday was my travelling day but as I was spending a week at home, I decided not to rush and left the house at 11am for my 12.30 train from Oxford.
Quotes of the week:
Karl talking about weather in Dublin: "Well it's quite nice today, only rained during lunch".
E-mail sent around in work about a sponsored walk: "There may be a couple of places that could be quite muddy so please wear appropriate shoes (boots or willies)", of course that was meant to say "Wellies"
